Fargo (1996)
★★★★★★★ (7/7)
"Fargo," directed by the Coen brothers, is a thrilling ride throughout the movie. Based on a true story (which is insanely hard to believe), this film is masterfully crafted so that the audience is constantly wondering why the characters make the choices they make. With an extremely intense and violent climax, "Fargo" is a cautionary tale that gives a great depiction of small town life gone wrong.

First Reformed (2017)
★★★★½ (4.5/7)
"First Reformed" was a film that I was very excited to watch. Written and directed by the writer of "Taxi Driver," which I consider one of the greatest films ever made, the story of the pastor really drew me in. Starting as a promising story of a man struggling with his faith, the story continuously grew worse and worse. The thought process of the pastor is completely illogical and totally violates his faith in God. I ended up finding this film to be a shot at Christians that is only obsessed with pushing its agenda.

Force Majeure (2014)
★★★★ (4/7)
"Force Majeure"is a marital drama that follows a husband and his wife on their vacation to the French Alps. The acting is able to convey the awkward and tense situations that happen in the film quite well, however, the film as a whole did not impress me much. Along with the dragging central conflict, the ending scenes of this film made little sense to me.

Lady Bird (2017)
★★★★★★ (6/7)
"Lady Bird" is a movie that I feel has gotten a little too much hype. While it was an enjoyable movie, "Lady Bird" fell into almost every cliché possible for a typical coming of age story. This movie, however, does a great job developing the tough-love relationship between mother and daughter and showing how hard a struggling family tries to make it work for their daughter. "Lady Bird' probably resonates more with female viewers, but overall was an enjoyable film.

The Lighthouse (2019)
★★★★★★ (6/7)
"The Lighthouse" is an exciting horror/ thriller film directed by Robert Eggers. Due to its boxy aspect ratio and spectacular performances, "The Lighthouse" is able to construct a world that feels extremely claustrophobic. Robert Pattinson completely buys into his role as newcomer to the island, which further enhances the environment. Willem Dafoe fully deserved a nomination for best supporting actor, as he completely sells his role as the crazy lighthouse keeper. The film is a race as to who will go insane first: Pattinson, Dafoe, or the viewer.

Little Women (2019)
★★★★★½ (5.5/7)
"Little Women" at its core is about a girl who will not compromise her ideals for anyone. My main problem with this film is how it somewhat abandons that with no explanation. The lack of depth given to Louis Garrel's character bothered me, and the ending was not fulfilling. Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, and Timothee Chalamet are perfectly casted and give this story emotional value. Along with one of the best acted scenes of the year, the costume design and scenery in "Little Women" are stunning.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
★★★★★★½ (6.5/7)
"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" is a hilarious action/comedy movie with one of the most unique stories in years. Scott must go on a quest to defeat his new girlfriends seven evil exes in order to win her heart. This role was cast perfectly with Michael Cera, as he perfectly delivers his awkwardly funny moments. The comic book-like action sequences are also very unique and pleasing. It was a very fun watch and has lots of rewatch value.
